Merry Christmas, Season's Greetings, Happy Holidays... whatever. And it's also Philanthropic Phriday. This week's donation goes to Hospice Care Ottawa:

Many people are hard at work, even on Christmas Day. Covid-19 and other serious illnesses do not observe a Christmas truce.
Hospice care facilities allow people who are terminally or untreatably ill to enjoy care and comfort in a homey setting. Charities like Hospice Care Ottawa also fill a significant void by offering services to their families and friends, who in the midst of a pandemic are often unable to take part in a lot of the familiar customs, rituals and gatherings relating to last days, dying, honouring and commemorating.
We've heard a lot about this being a year and a Christmas like no other. Certainly there are some things I miss this year but in other ways, I'm just as happy to have a quieter, less hectic, more low-key celebration. Time for reading, reflecting, listening to good music, eating special foods, watching corny holiday movies and TV specials.
The weather is odd here too - lots of rain, no snow on our front or back lawn. But we'll be getting a few flurries overnight, I think.
Once the snow arrives, I find it always looks lighter and brighter outside. The days are already starting to get a bit longer too and soon we can start ordering seeds for next summer's garden.
With vaccines a beacon of hope on the horizon, 2021 may be a whole new world...
