Yesterday it went up to 24 degrees. Summer's last hurrah. By Monday or Tuesday, we're supposed to get snow flurries.

As the days get darker and colder, many of us retreat indoors. In normal times, we might have seasonal concerts and get-togethers to look forward to. During a pandemic, our options are more circumscribed.

One concept that's had lots of press coverage in recent years is the Scandinavian notion of hygge:

Many of the proposed ideas and activities are perfectly achievable even for those who live alone.

The word, at least to an English-speaking audience, also evokes the word "hug". You might think Covid-safe hugs with anyone outside your bubble would be impossible but where there's a will, there's a way, as these inventors demonstrated:
