Today's donation goes to Highjinx Ottawa:

They describe their mission as "Neighbours Helping Neighbours" and really, they seem to do just about everything. Based in a house on Kent Street, they offer a drop-in centre, food bank for people and pets, furniture bank, second-hand goods, a kind of co-op venture - all while observing the necessary safeguards of a public health pandemic. I would surmise from exploring their site that they would be of particular interest not so much to the hard-core down-and-outers but to those who are still barely keeping their heads above water (or are only a centimetre or two below the surface) where just a little bit of assistance would make a huge difference in their lives.
Their web site is definitely worth a look-see. They appear to be a model of the thing globally, act locally philosophy.
