... to buy a fat tomato. Actually three of them. Plus a basket of smaller ones, a package of "spring mix" (salad greens), some garlic, a large basket of strawberries and a small box of peaches.

Who'd have thought it could be so exciting to go to Parkdale Market? In previous years, we'd be there every couple of days throughout the harvesting season. But this was our first trip of 2020 and a lot has changed since COVID-19 struck!

For starters, they're only open Thursdays through Sunday, 9 to 5. You can browse from a distance, then tell the attendant what you want and she bags it for you, sets it in a little bin and you pay for it. Another pleasant surprise - they actually take cash! There's another little plastic container you put your money in (one of those little drawer organizers) and the attendant takes it and out and puts your change in there.

On the way home, I decided I don't have the virus because I could smell my hands - they smelled like warm hard cash!
