It was 50 years ago this year...
Jun. 21st, 2019 01:51 pmWhat was? A lot of significant events as it happens, most of which made a big impression on me. For example:
The opening of the National Arts Centre (NAC)
The first lunar landing (by actual humans)
Woodstock
The NAC was actually supposed to be a Centennial project to open by July 1, 1967 - but like a lot of things around here (are you listening, Rideau Transit Group?) was a couple of years late.
I did watch the moon landing over at a friend's house - lots of grainy black-and-white images - but it was exciting nonetheless.
And Woodstock? No, I wasn't there (nor do I plan to go to any of the major reunion concerts) but I did see the film. And I'm listening to the soundtrack right now.
1969 - it was a very good year.
