Philanthropic Phriday no. 15: The Reverse Food Truck

With farmers' markets opening around and beyond the city, and with the beginning of patio season, I knew I wanted to contribute to some sort of food rescue organization this week. And rather than just spill a little spare change into a vast impersonal bureaucratic ocean, I wanted it to have significant local impact as well. The Parkdale Food Cupboard is definitely well-connected to the larger network, but its Reverse Food Truck initiative is very much community-focused:

Meanwhile Allyson Maclean, a professor at the University of Ottawa, is researching the possibility of an edible vaccine for Covid-19, one that can be injected into lettuce, tomatoes or potatoes:
