Re: re-opening government

It’s going to be very interesting and careful when big government buildings re-open, for sure, and folks like cleaners, plumbers and HVAC technicians are going to play big roles in making it safe.

I trust that as Census Day draws nearer, the Census will get priority treatment as the Labour Force Survey and others get now, and the remote workers will get in the fast lane for VPN access and other work-enabling things. The agency may not be working quite at 100% yet but it can get things done, even very big things!

And never say never, but I would suspect the Census questionnaire will be the one planned over the past few years for 2021 — less-monumental programs will likely get COVID-19-related questions, and there are panel and special surveys going out (and some are even back in and have releases) specifically about how different groups of Canadians are coping.
