I've heard it argued that things might be a bit better if Amber alerts had a different tone than danger to life and limb sorts of alerts (and if the Amber ones just stay there waiting for you to pick up your phone if the phone was muted or in do-not-disturb mode).

With any luck they'll adjust things as the complaints roll in and the effectiveness gets measured (assuming they measure the effectiveness somehow)…
