Well, yes - as grateful as I am for the miracles of modern medicine, I'm always happier when there's a straightforward solution and no miracle is needed! How often does he get them cleaned? I looked at the pharmacy recently for in-between maintenance treatments and they seem to fall into two basic categories: ear plugs (themselves made of wax) that you insert before showering or swimming to block water and other stuff from entering; and after-the-fact sprays (which seem to be plain old rubbing alcohol) that you spray in to dry up the water once it's in there.
